PERSONAL STATEMENT
I believe that architecture is the art of problem solving. Design for me is about asking questions and seeking out the solutions through analysis, deduction, and creativity. The questions are not always clear, and it often takes time and examination to understand what it is I should be asking. I find the answers, and often the questions themselves, are entrenched in a hyper systematic and comprehensive study of a subject and its influences. By creating organized systems, with clear variables and drivers, one can stumble upon unanticipated and novel solutions to even the most mundane questions. Design produced through this methodology embodies an inherent intelligence and purpose derived from the questions being asked.
The projects represented here strive to follow this design philosophy by asking questions and seeking solutions through systematic and logical examination. As a designer my goal is to understand the innate complexities of a project and to refine them into a cohesive thesis, that celebrates its inimitable characteristics rather than covering them up. Regardless of scale or program, each project poses unique questions and design solutions. Through my creation of systems, often directed by my own personal interest and aesthetic sensibilities, the projects reflect me as a designer and as a scholar.
