New Inc., located next to the New Museum in downtown is a co-working space designed to encourage collaboration and synthesis of different disciplines. Located directly adjacent to Sanaa's New Museum the simple brick facade recedes from pedestrians view, eradicating any sense of place or destination. With help from Maloya Metal Fabricators in Commack, NY, this project seeks to not only reinvent the surface of New Inc. with a per-fabricated metal panel system, but to create a system as innovative and daring as the spaces mission.
Metal facades are usually made of numerous small pieces that are assembled using rivets, on or off site. This system simplifies this process by creating a full panel out a single, continuous sheet of metal, that only needs to be folded and riveted to itself. The lack of small pieces and numerous steps will reduce time and mistakes on building sites.
